Water quality

Both district water systems met all federal and state drinking water requirements in the most recent annual reports, with no violations.

Annual reports

Consumer Confidence Reports

Every year the district publishes a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) for each water system. It explains where your water comes from, what it was tested for, and what was found.

System 1

Bear Mountain / Lakeview

Source: Lake Chelan (surface water).

Treatment: diatomaceous earth filtration with chlorine disinfection, at the treatment plant in Clos Chevalle.

Storage: two lake pumps and two booster pumps supply up to 90 gallons per minute to a 156,000-gallon reservoir.

System 2

Hawks Meadow

Source: a groundwater well about 92 feet deep, near Lake Chelan east of SR-97A.

Distribution: four booster pump stations and five reservoirs.

Testing: coliform bacteria are tested monthly, as in both systems.

Lead service line inventories

Water systems are required to keep an inventory of the service lines that connect each property to the water main, including what each line is made of. The district’s inventories for both systems are available below as spreadsheets.

In Washington, lead in drinking water comes mainly from materials in household plumbing, not from the water source.

Reducing lead exposure at home

  • If a tap has not been used for 6 hours or more, run it until the water is noticeably colder before drinking or cooking.
  • Use only cold tap water for drinking, cooking, and especially for making baby formula. Hot water is more likely to contain lead.
  • Flushed water can be used for plants, dishes or cleaning.
  • If you are concerned about lead, you can have your water tested.
