About the district

About Bear Mountain Water District

A small public water district serving two separate water systems in the hills above Lake Chelan.

Who we are

Bear Mountain Water District is a special purpose district — a local unit of government that exists to do one job. Ours is providing public drinking water and irrigation water to the properties in our service area near Chelan, Washington.

The district is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners elected by district voters. Day-to-day operations are handled by the District Manager, with support from the district’s Secretary/Accountant and a consultant.

The district runs two water systems that are not connected to each other — Bear Mountain / Lakeview, which draws from Lake Chelan, and Hawks Meadow, which draws from a groundwater well. Each has its own rates and its own annual water quality report.

Service area

Lakeview system: Lakeview, Bandera, SSWA, Karma Kanyon, Clos Chevalle and Grandview.

Hawks Meadow system: Hawks Meadow and Hawks Ridge.
